An International Cross-cultural Project

Welcome to AfricaManagement.org the website of the international project Management and Change in Africa sponsored by the Danish International Development Assistance (Danida), Institut Vital Roux (Chambre de Commerce et Industrie de Paris) and the Centre for Cross Cultural Management Research, ESCP-EAP European School of Management.

This site provides information on the project, and resources for policy makers, developers, scholars and managers with an interest in building effective and appropriate management in Africa.

International Project Overview

This project is the first to study management and change in Africa both in breadth and depth, using multi-level and multi-method empirical techniques.

The project starts from a premise that effective and appropriate management of organizations across the globe is a prerequisite for human well-being and prosperity.

Effective management in Africa is by definition cross-cultural management. A cross-cultural approach provides the main foundation for the project.

Aims

The project aims to build theory and the practice of management through empirical investigation in breadth and in depth.

Currently we are working in depth in South Africa, Cameroon, Kenya and Nigeria. We are developing case studies and management themes that relate to effective and appropriate management in Africa. We are also gathering cross-cultural data on management and organizations in some 20 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Much of this information is available on this website. We also disseminate information through books and articles, as well as organizing seminars, and workshops for managers.
